Everything that can be connected, Will be connected

The Internet of Things (IoT) is defined as any electronic device in which has the capability to connect to the internet with an on and off switch. With so many devices having the ability to connect wirelessly to the internet, it could potentially have a bigger effect on us than we think.

My remediation highlights the notion of a world in which everything is digitally connected, and these sounds have just become a natural part of life.

Personally, the idea of my fridge and toaster being connected to the internet is something that barely phases me. Although it seems like a great idea, imagine if our fridge was listening to everything we were saying? Privacy invasion is a prevalent theme in the IoT.

As users, we are just another data stream in the flow of information being produced on the internet. And all our data has to be stored somewhere, right?

This highlights how all devices being connected could potentially(and already has) become a problem. Where is the data being stored? What is the data being used for? WHO can view the data?

Cyberwar

deseat.com claims that it can give you a list of all the places your identities are being used online and allow you to delete the online presences you are no longer want to associate with.

Much to our dismay, the internet has the ability to remember everything, regardless if it has been deleted.

Everything that is being posted online has the ability to be accessed in some way or another as long as they have an internet connection, and it is because of this that cyberwar has come into motion.

Cyberwar can do just as much damage as a physical war, with the ability to take down businesses such as banks and able to access thousands of details held within such institutions and organisations.

While the idea of cyberwar is extremely confronting, we must remember the there is a big difference between cyberwar and cyber attack.
